If you are Flagler Student looking for off campus student housing you need to start by thinking about what it is you are looking for. Flagler College is situated in downtown historic St Augustine which is a great place to live off campus for Flagler College students.
Within the downtown area you can find a variety of housing options. Flagler student housing ranges from apartments to a precious few home rentals. Generally speaking the closer to the Flagler College your housing is the better. Flagler College student Housing close to the school is very convenient, economical (will get into later) and gives Flagler College students more of an opportunity to take advantage of a great experience which is why they are at school in the first place. Some of the Flagler College students elect to live out of the downtown area in large complexes such as condo’s or townhouses. Due to the recent market downturn many previous residential units are available for rent away from the school. This is very unfortunate as it has tempted some Flagler College students to give up the wonderful experience to live in and become part of the history of historic St Augustine. Living away from Flagler College or living in a big townhouse complex away from the shool is like going to Rome and eating at McDonalds and Burger King for all your meals. The perception by some is that Flager College Students may get a little more for their money when they move away from the school-whereas the reality is very different. When you consider the short amount of time an individual spends at school enriching themselves the most valuable element is that very precious & limited time for a student to grow in many ways. College is expensive no doubt but that is all the more reason why looking to spend a few dollars less on rent or to get a little bigger place and losing out on all that Flagler College has to offer with the historic downtown is really wasting what could be an amazing experience. If you love the beach and want to live there I can understand it but to spend time and money commuting to a place out of the historic downtown area and making it inconvenient to get back to the school for any reason just does not make great sense.
You can ride a bike and or walk to class and the savings on gas or better yet savings gained by not having a car will more then make up for any short term gains you think you are getting from moving more then a few blocks from Flagler College.
Evenyone should enjoy Flagler College and take advantage of the potential Flagler College has to offer in historic downtown St. Augustine.
Flagler College in St Augustine is truly one of the most special learning institutions in the nation. The history that is St Augustine is woven into the very fabric of a Flagler College student experience.
