It also gives you the opportunity to find new channels for marketing - online marketing allows you to reach customers who do not use or have tired of other media. Another advantage of e-commerce is that it allows you to target your marketing specifically to your ideal customer, which helps you make the most of your marketing dollars and increase sales.
E-Commerce lets you to take credit card orders without manual processing and only
a relatively small upfront cost. There are several options for credit card processing, including PayPal, payment gateways that that the credit card on their site, and payment gateways that allow you to take the credit card on your own site.
The requirements for an ecommerce website include hosting (where the website is "located", who "runs" the website), a domain name (e.g. mybusiness.com), a security certificate/encryption – needed to take credit cards (unless credit cards are taken offsite), a payment gateway (which takes credit card information from your site), and a merchant account (a bank account for use with credit cards).
